A look back at the Elephants' three World Cup appearances

Victorious over Kenya (3-0) on the final day of qualifiers, Côte d'Ivoire secured a spot in the World Cup finals for the fourth time, after 2006, 2010, and 2014. Let's revisit those three campaigns.
The Elephants' first taste of the World Cup proved challenging. Drawn in a tough Group C, they were eliminated after logical defeats to Argentina (2-1) and the Netherlands (2-1). Their win against Serbia (3-2) was ultimately for pride.
Just like in 2006, Didier Drogba and his teammates finished third in their group after a goalless draw with Portugal (0-0), a defeat to Brazil (3-1), and a win over North Korea (3-0).
It was a similar story in 2014 in Brazil. The Ivorians started strong with a 2-1 win over Japan, but then stumbled against Colombia (1-2) and Greece (1-2). Third in the group with 3 points, they were once again knocked out at the group stage.
