Action in the United States, Canada and Mexico continues apace
World Cup action continues to flow thick and fast, with another packed afternoon of football set to take place on Sunday.
The weekend got underway with some fantastic action across north America. The Netherlands set the tone for a day of high drama as they put five goals past Graham Potter’s Sweden, with Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo both coming away with braces.
Germany followed suit with a similarly entertaining fixture as they came from behind to beat the Ivory Coast. Franck Kessie opened the scoring in the first-half and despite their best efforts, Germany could not equalise until Deniz Undav found the back of the net in the 68th minute, and completed the turnaround in the 94th.
Ecuador and Curacao rounded out the afternoon with an attritional 0-0 draw in Kansas City, before Tunisia and Japan faced off in overnight action, whihc kicked off at 5am BST.
And we stand to do it all again this afternoon, with plenty more matchday two action set to take place.
The World Cup programme kicks off with one of the title favourites, Spain, facing off against a relative minnow in Saudi Arabia. La Roja have a point to prove as they face up to their second group stage fixture, after they were held to a shock goalless draw by Cape Verde last time out.
Next on the docket, Belgium face Iran in Los Angeles. Both sides were held to a draw in their opening matches, Belgium by Egypt and Iran by New Zealand, meaning top spot in Group G will on the line here.

Uruguay and Cape Verde complete the second matchday in Group H, with the latter side looking to prove the point they knicked from Spain was more than mere fluke.
And there is one last match in the small hours of Monday morning, with New Zealand facing Egypt in a 2am kick-off.
In the UK, Spain vs Saudi Arabia will be broadcast live and free to air on BBC One, with coverage beginning at 4.30pm ahead of a 5pm kick-off.
It is then over to ITV 1 for Belgium vs Iran in the 8pm kick-off, with coverage there starting from 7pm.
The last match of the day, Uruguay vs Cape Verde, kicks off at 11pm BST and is back over on BBC One, with coverage starting half an hour before kick-off.
The sole overnight offering of New Zealand vs Egypt will get underway at 2am, with ITV1’s coverage starting from 1.30am.
