World Cup over for François Letexier and Clément Turpin, Jérôme Brisard still available as VAR | OneFootball

France’s progress to the 2026 World Cup semi-finals means François Letexier and Clément Turpin will not referee again at this tournament. According to L'Équipe, Jérôme Brisard remains available to FIFA as a VAR.

FIFA stands down officials from nations still involved to prevent conflicts of interest for the semi-finals, the third-place play-off and the final.

The same restriction covers referees from the other three semi-finalists, Argentina, Spain and England.

Brisard has worked exclusively on video assistance since the start of the World Cup. He was named Ligue 1’s best referee at the most recent Trophées UNFP.

After the latest round of assignments, only 13 referees remain in contention to take charge of the World Cup final, among them Ivan Barton, who oversaw France v Spain.
