Lennart Karl is one of the most exciting talents at FC Bayern – and has now made his debut for the national team. What are his chances for the World Cup?
Lennart Karl is currently attracting a lot of attention at FC Bayern – and the DFB is also banking on the 18-year-old. According to BILD, however, Karl is initially only planned as a squad player
Nagelsmann is relying on a clear concept: „We have had a role discussion with every player. Every player knows exactly where he stands,“ explained the national coach
The players are divided internally into regular players, substitutes and squad players – and Karl is currently in the third category, according to the report
Even if the youngster is not yet one of the first options, his nomination for the matches against Switzerland (4:3) and Ghana (2:1) is a clear signal
His situation remains exciting, especially in view of the upcoming World Cup. The 18-year-old clearly has the opportunity to play his way into the spotlight in the coming weeks and make the leap into the final World Cup squad
In addition to Karl, several FC Bayern professionals also play an important role in Nagelsmann’s plans. Joshua Kimmich, as captain, is one of the set regulars, as is Jamal Musiala, who must, however, be fully fit
Aleksandar Pavlovic is currently a permanent fixture in central midfield, while Leon Goretzka is fighting for more playing time. „Leon now has the chance to get more playing time, but that doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to be a regular at the World Cup,“ said Nagelsmann

Serge Gnabry can also still hope for a bigger role. The attacking player is currently regarded as a backup, but could still play his way into the starting eleven if he performs well
One thing is certain: while Karl is currently still listed as a prospect, several Bayern professionals are already an integral part of the DFB’s plans, giving the youngster a great opportunity to establish himself in this circle in the long term.
