Wissa scored an historic goal for his side on his 38th international appearance in DR Congo's FIFA World Cup Group K opener against Portugal on Wednesday at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

The 29-year-old started for his country and went close from range after João Neves' early opener for Portugal, before pulling his side level with a superb header on the stroke of half time - DR Congo's first-ever goal at the tournament.

Wissa played the full 90 minutes as the Léopards - in their first World Cup finals for 52 years - turned in an impressive performance in a 1-1 draw they may feel they could have taken more than just a point from.

DR Congo will now take on Colombia at the Estadio Akron on Wednesday 24 June (kick-off 3am BST) before going head-to-head with Uzbekistan in their final group game on Sunday 28 June at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (kick-off 12:30am BST).

Dan Burn

Newcastle United had been set to have two representatives in the England squad at this summer's FIFA World Cup finals, with Tino Livramento selected along with Burn by Thomas Tuchel.

However, Livramento picked up a minor calf injury in training with the Three Lions on Sunday afternoon, with a subsequent scan and medical assessment on Monday confirming he could play no further part in the tournament.

England kicked off their Group L campaign with an entertaining 4-2 win over Croatia at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday, which came courtesy of a Harry Kane brace and further strikes from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford. Burn was an unused substitute.

Tuchel's men now face Ghana on Tuesday 23rd June at Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Both those games also kick-off at 9pm BST.

England round off the group stage against Panama at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday 27th June (kick-off 10pm BST).

Anthony Elanga

Elanga - who featured in Sweden's 3-1 defeat to Norway and a 2-2 draw with Greece before the tournament - made his World Cup bow as a late substitute in the Blågult's 5-1 thrashing of Tunisia in their opening Group F fixture in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 24-year-old came on for former United forward Alexander Isak in the closing moments at Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, and was on the pitch as Yasin Ayari wrapped up an emphatic victory in the sixth minute of added time.

They will now take on the Netherlands on Saturday 20th June at the NRG Stadium in Houston (kick-off 6pm BST).

Sweden, World Cup finalists in 1958, will face Japan in their final group game on Friday 26 June at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington (kick-off 12am BST).

Bruno Guimarães

Ahead of the tournament the Magpies captain - the only United player at this summer's tournament to have already played at a World Cup - played in a 6-2 win against Panama before netting the opener in their 2-1 warm-up victory over Egypt.

The five-time world champions kicked off their World Cup campaign with a a 1-1 draw with Morocco at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday, with the United man claiming an assist for Vinícius Júnior's goal before being replaced by Danilo in the 80th minute.

The Seleção face Haiti at the Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday 20 June (kick-off 1:30pm BST).

Brazil, who last won the trophy in 2002, conclude their Group C campaign when facing Scotland four days later at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (kick-off 11pm BST).

Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw

Woltemade and Thiaw's Germany, who last won the World Cup in 2014, kicked off Group E with a 7-1 victory against World Cup debutants Curaçao at the NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday.

But the United pair were unused substitutes in the big win, so still await their first appearances in a World Cup.

Next they travel to Toronto to face the Ivory Coast at BMO Field on Saturday 20th June.

They round off the group stage with a clash with Ecuador at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Thursday 25th June. Both of their final two group games kick off at 9pm BST.
