Wrexham and Sheffield United produced a Boxing Day classic with the Welsh side eventually winning in an eight-goal thriller.

There were three goals in the first 15 minutes at the Racecourse with Femi Seriki whipping in a cross from the right for Patrick Bamford to provide a fine finish from a difficult chance.

The home side equalised just two minutes later after Tyler Bindon put the ball in the net but Bamford restored Sheffield United's lead in the 15th minute when ta Seriki again put in a fine delivery for his striker.

Chris Wilder's side made it 3-1 in the 24th minute after a long throw-in was headed in at close range by Callum O’Hare.

However, Wrexham then went from two goals down to two goals ahead when they netted the final four goals of the game.

The deficit was reduced shortly after O'Hare's header with one of their own when Kieffer Moore met George Thomason's whipped corner delivery.

It was 3-3 seven minutes after the restart. Thomason again provided the assist with Ryan Longman this time heading past Michael Cooper.

The Red Dragons took the lead for the first time in the game in the 76th minute when Nathan Broadhead threaded a pass for Moore to fire home.

The fifth goal of the game came from the penalty spot when Bindon was judged to have felled Thomason. It was a soft decision but regardless Josh Windass wrapped up a thrilling game.

Wrexham finish the day in 13th place on 31 points, five off the play-off spots – Sheffield United meanwhile sit in 19th.
