Aston Villa have announced the signing of goalkeeper Emily Ramsey from fellow Women’s Super League side Everton.
The 25-year-old played for the likes of Liverpool and a number of loan clubs across the WSL and WSL2, before joining Everton. She has spent the last four years with the Toffees.
Ramsey also brings experience at international level. She has represented England throughout the youth age groups and has also been involved with the senior Lionesses set-up, having earned her first senior call-up in 2023.
On the move, she said: “I’m really excited to be here and looking forward to getting started. It felt like the right time for a new challenge. I’m excited to play at Villa Park on the right side of the team, get to know the players and see what we can achieve together this season.”
Ramsey has experienced the highs and lows of football, both personally and professionally. But the shot-stopper believes she’s been patient and is ready for the challenge.
“I think I’ve faced a lot of challenges personally throughout my career and I’ve developed a lot of mental resilience and confidence in myself,” she said. “I’m a big believer that everyone takes their own path. I’ve had to be patient and now I’m excited to come into a new team, challenge myself and show what I can do.”
Marisa Ewers, Director of Women’s Football, said: “Emily is a goalkeeper with strong experience in the WSL and a real desire to continue developing her game. She has arrived at Villa eager to challenge herself and contribute to the group. We’re pleased to welcome her to the club.”
