Chelsea will end the WSL weekend three points off the top after being held by Liverpool.

Sonia Bompastor's side no doubt watched Manchester City defeat their crosstown rivals United after a clinical first half performance.

However, they were unable to keep up with City's form after coming up against a solid Liverpool side managed by former Citizens' boss Gareth Taylor.

Things started off well for the defending champions who took the lead inside the first ten minutes through the in-form Alyssa Thompson, with the American scoring her third goal in four games.

However, Beata Olsson levelled the score with just over half an hour gone in the game. Lily Woodham played in the Swede who still had plenty to do as she charged toward goal before keeping her cool and finishing past Livia Peng.

Surprisingly, Chelsea weren't able to get a second and although they've set a new unbeaten streak record of 34 games, they find themselves three points behind City.

Meanwhile, that was a well-earned point for Liverpool but they finish the week at the bottom of the WSL after West Ham United earned their first win of the season against Everton.

The Hammers were 3-0 up after 54 minutes with goals from Anouk Denton, Amber Tysiak, and Shekiera Martinez. Substitute Katja Snoeijs did pull one back for the Toffees but it was too little, too late.

Elsewhere, London City Lionesses drew level on points with Tottenham Hotspur after a solid 3-1 win away to Aston Villa with Saki Kumagai scoring her first two goals of the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion also played some excellent football as they defeated Leicester City 4-1 at home.

There is of course still one game left to be played as Tottenham Hotspur host Arsenal – a win for either side will see them move up into third.
