Liverpool are under no small degree of pressure from Real Madrid for Ibrahima Konate.
Madrid media is full of stories - claiming the Reds’ centre-back is on the brink of a move to the Bernabeu or else set to ink a lucrative free transfer in 2026.

Right now Liverpool have got a tough choice. They can entertain bids for the 26-year-old this summer - and sell him for a reasonable fee - or else risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires next year.

Neither scenario is preferable - although it looks like the club are covering themselves in the event of a departure with confirmed interest in Marc Guehi.
But it’s not only Konate that Liverpool have to worry about right now.
According to Defensa Central, Madrid’s decision-makers have informed Xabi Alonso that there will be no more major transfers through the door this summer.
It scuppers Alonso’s ambitions of adding a high-quality midfielder to the ranks for the new season.
However the publication also adds that the Madrid board have pledged to bring in a new midfielder next summer if deficiencies appear in that area during the season.
Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler are three of the players who must impress this term - or else they face being replaced by one of Madrid’s preferred targets in 2026.
Among that number is Alexis Mac Allister - Liverpool’s Argentine talisman who is under contract until 2028.
Having arrived in time for Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge from Brighton for a bargain £35m fee, Macca has become an integral part of Arne Slot’s system.
The 26-year-old can count himself as a Premier League title winner following his exertions last season - and is seen by Madrid as a future star of their team.
“From the trio formed by Rodri, Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández or Vitinha, among others, the big signing of the year 2026 will emerge, who will arrive alongside Ibrahima Konaté, who will land after finishing his contract with Liverpool,” the report reads.
