Cagliari’s French forward Yaël Trepy has been brought out of a coma following a pool drowning incident. He remains in hospital in Sassari.

The club said in a statement that he had regained full consciousness without apparent neurological deficit, and that optimal respiratory exchange allowed doctors to end mechanical ventilation and extubate him on Tuesday afternoon.

He is alert and cooperative, with stable respiratory and haemodynamic conditions. Owing to the recent extubation and lung issues linked to inhalation syndrome, he remains in intensive care under close monitoring.

Trepy was admitted on Sunday after the incident in a swimming pool.

The 20-year-old, developed at Créteil, joined Cagliari in 2023 for the youth sides and stepped up to the senior group in February 2026. He has played eight Serie A matches and scored one goal.
