FC Barcelona suffer a crushing defeat at the Spotify Camp Nou, as Atletico Madrid rejoice after their victory. Despite being a crucial UEFA Champions League tie for La Blaugrana, they were yet again harmed by an untimely sending off.

A 2-0 defeat at home, the Catalan giants will now have a mountain to climb in the second leg. Unfortunately, not a lot of players can keep their heads held up high following the loss.

Here are the player ratings for the Barça players.

Player Ratings:

Joan Garcia: 5.5/10

Could not do much about the first goal but should have done much better for the second goal. Not his best performance this season.

Jules Kounde: 6.0/10

Did well enough to cover the right flank and his passing was accurate for much of the game. However, a lack of creativity certainly let the team down as well.

Pau Cubarsi: 2.0/10

Every single season, it is the same exact problem. Yet again, a Barcelona defender finds himself getting sent off in a crucial European encounter. This time around, it’s Pau Cubarsi.

Gerard Martin: 6.0/10

Solid in terms of his duels and his passing as well, Gerard Martin had a decent outing. Unfortunately, it was not enough to stop Atletico Madrid from scoring two.

Joao Cancelo: 6.5/10

Created some promising chances and did well to threaten Atletico Madrid on the left flank. The red card, however, increased his defensive workload as well and it did not exactly benefit him.

Eric Garcia: 6.5/10

Very aggressive in his challenges and did well to put pressure on Atletico Madrid in midfield. Unfortunately for him, the red card put him at a disadvantage and forced him to cover a lot more ground.

Pedri: 6.0/10

Played some good passes and had a certain level of control over the game, but had to be taken off due to a yellow card at half-time considering that the team was already being mindful of suspensions. Decent performance.

Lamine Yamal: 7.5/10

Created some big chances and even provided the assist for the goal that was ruled offside, but even the youngster was frustrating at times. Tried to put in a real shift near the end of the game, but it was unfortunately not enough.

Dani Olmo: 6.0/10

Played decent, but could not do much beyond playing a few good passes and linking up with his teammates. Needed to do more.

Marcus Rashford: 4.0/10

So wasteful, at every stage of this game. The best chances of the match all fell to him, and he made sure to squander them or showcase a complete lack of composure.

Robert Lewandowski: 5.0/10

Barely involved in the first half and had to eventually be taken off at halftime to make some changes.

Substitutes:

Fermin Lopez: 6.5/10

Put in a good shift near the end and managed to create some chances through sheer grit. Unfortunately, it did not amount to much for Barcelona.

Gavi: 6.0/10

Handled a big responsibility relatively well, and played well during the second half.

Ronald Araujo: N/A

Not enough influence or time in the game to warrant a rating.

Ferran Torres: N/A

Not enough influence or time in the game to warrant a rating.

Alejandro Balde: N/A

Not enough influence or time in the game to warrant a rating.
