Liverpool’s pursuit of one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards could become increasingly complicated after Yan Diomande admitted he has supported PSG since childhood.
The RB Leipzig winger has emerged as one of the most talked-about young talents in European football following a remarkable breakthrough campaign in Germany. Now, with both Liverpool and PSG monitoring his situation closely, the player’s own comments have added another intriguing layer to a transfer story that is gathering momentum ahead of the summer window.
Speaking to French publication L’Équipe, the Ivory Coast international revealed his admiration for the Parisian giants while insisting his immediate focus remains on the upcoming World Cup.
“My future? I have a team that takes care of that,” Diomande said.
“I try to stay as focused as possible. I’ve loved PSG since I was little. I think my father was a PSG supporter. But I’m not thinking about the future, I’m staying focused on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens after that.”
Those comments are unlikely to discourage PSG, who are actively seeking attacking reinforcements as they prepare for another demanding campaign under Luis Enrique.

Diomande’s rise has been swift and spectacular.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a sensational 2025-26 Bundesliga season with RB Leipzig, producing 12 goals and eight assists in 33 league appearances. His direct involvement in 20 goals placed him among the division’s most productive attackers despite his age and relative inexperience at the highest level.
Numbers alone do not tell the full story. Diomande’s ability to eliminate defenders in one-on-one situations has become his defining characteristic. He completed a league-high 118 dribbles during the campaign, finishing comfortably ahead of every other player in Germany’s top flight.
His 104 take-on-ending carries also ranked first in the Bundesliga, underlining the explosive pace, balance and confidence that have made him such an attractive prospect for Europe’s elite clubs.
Only a handful of players recorded more goal involvements across the division, placing Diomande firmly among the continent’s most exciting emerging attackers.
According to the original source, PSG have identified the right wing as a priority area for improvement despite their recent success.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola are both most effective operating from the left, while Ousmane Dembele has increasingly featured through central areas. As a result, sporting adviser Luis Campos is keen to add a specialist right-sided attacker capable of stretching defences and providing greater tactical flexibility.
Diomande fits that profile perfectly.
Liverpool, meanwhile, continue to be linked with the Leipzig star as they assess future attacking options. His versatility, age profile and proven output make him an attractive target for a club that has consistently invested in elite young talent.
Any move will come at a significant cost.
RB Leipzig are reportedly prepared to consider a sale only if offers approach the €100 million mark, a valuation that reflects both Diomande’s extraordinary potential and the length of his contract.
Such a figure would represent a major investment for either PSG or Liverpool, but it also highlights the regard in which the teenager is held across European football.
For now, Diomande’s attention remains fixed on international duty.
The winger is expected to play a prominent role for Ivory Coast at this summer’s World Cup, where they will face Germany, Ecuador and Curaçao in the group stage. Strong performances on that stage could elevate his reputation even further and potentially increase competition for his signature.
What is already clear is that Diomande’s future will be one of the defining transfer stories of the summer.
Liverpool have recognised his immense talent. PSG appear equally determined to bring him to Paris. The player himself has now openly acknowledged his affection for the French champions.
Whether that emotional connection ultimately influences his next move remains to be seen, but Diomande has ensured that speculation surrounding his future will only intensify in the months ahead.
