Yan Diomandé ‘to miss’ Leipzig training camp as Demichelis comments | OneFootball

Yan Diomandé will not travel with RB Leipzig for their pre-season camp in Austria because of illness, while negotiations over a possible move to Real Madrid continue.

He had reported sick earlier in the day and a final call on his involvement was due before departure, but the 18-year-old will now remain in Leipzig.

After Leipzig’s 4-0 friendly win over SC Verl, head coach Martin Demichelis addressed the winger’s absence.

“I know it’s a big topic. Yan is genuinely ill. We’ll see. I haven’t spoken with the doctor yet. If he’s healthy, he has to come with us. If he’s ill, then he’s ill.” He was speaking to Sky Germany.

Talks between Real Madrid and Leipzig remain active, with Madrid pushing to finalise the deal today or, at the latest, on Sunday, though discussions are said to have stalled somewhat over the past 24 hours.

With Diomandé left out of the trip, attention turns to whether the clubs can find a breakthrough in the coming days.
