Yannick Cahuzac has declined Lorient’s offer to become head coach. According to L'Équipe, the current assistant to Olivier Pantaloni was asked to step up.

Pantaloni will not extend his spell at Lorient despite promotion to Ligue 1 and the subsequent survival. The club began seeking a successor and considered Cahuzac, who is 41.

Talks were held, notably around the trip to PSG on the second of May, which ended 2-2.

The training sessions have been well received among the Merlus squad. Cahuzac has also been selected for the next BEPF intake.

The situation has not changed, he remains expected to join Lens, in principle as an assistant, although nothing has been signed.
