Yassine Bounou’s Al-Hilal future is uncertain this summer amid talk of a move to Al-Nassr.
According to Goal.com, Al-Hilal are considering freeing his domestic registration to add a foreign attacker, using the Morocco international only in the AFC Champions League Elite. Bounou is unwilling to accept a back-up role and has asked to leave.
Images of the goalkeeper in Al-Nassr colours have circulated among fans on social media, stirring debate. Claims that negotiations are under way are currently without foundation, and he remains under contract.
The full picture has yet to emerge. Italian coach Simone Inzaghi is open to registering Bounou on the Asian list, but the goalkeeper’s stance is an obstacle.
Club officials want to avoid any flare-up and keep the team focused on winning every trophy. For now they are trying to persuade Bounou to play only in Asia, with Mohammed Al-Owais preferred in domestic competitions.
If he continues to resist, the situation could end with the Morocco star leaving during the current window.
Bounou joined Al-Hilal from Sevilla in summer 2023 for 21 million euros. He has played 128 matches, keeping 51 clean sheets, conceding 116 goals and winning five domestic trophies, namely one Roshn Pro League, two King’s Cups and two Super Cups.
