Spain’s flanks suffered fresh blows in the 1-0 win over Uruguay on Friday, as the federation said Yeremy Pino has an acromio-clavicular sprain rather than a fracture and that both players’ injuries are of moderate grade.

Pino, who plays for Crystal Palace, landed awkwardly during the game.

Williams, of Athletic Bilbao, sustained a right adductor injury after a collision with a Uruguayan player. He has been hampered for much of the season by a groin issue.

Already without Victor Munoz since the start of the tournament because of a muscle injury, Luis de la Fuente may have to cope without Pino and Williams for the last 16, and possibly longer.

For now, neither player has been ruled out of the rest of the competition.
