Now it seems that John Stones could be facing a lengthy period out of the game. That has become a common occurrence during the past two seasons for the England international.

John Stones was substituted in the opening 7 minutes of Manchester City’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night. Speaking today Pep Guardiola told the media that John Stones had suffered a thigh injury. The City manager added that the world champions are currently waiting to find out the severity of the injury Stones sustained. When asked about Stones’ condition during his pre-game press conference Pep Guardiola said: “He is injured – a difficult one. In the next days, we will know if he needs surgery or not. It’s the front, his thigh.”

The potential of John Stones being sidelined for a lengthy period is very real. John Stones has suffered a host of injuries over the past two seasons and his most recent injury has followed a familiar pattern.
