Ahead of Liverpool v Newcastle in the Carabao Cup Final, we are looking to gauge the thoughts of Newcastle United fans ahead of that 4.30pm kick-off at Wembley on Sunday.

So we have asked a number of regular and irregular contributors to The Mag a range of questions.

How they think things are looking ahead of this massive match.

Whether or not they have a ticket for this Carabao Cup Final and what they expect to see happen when Newcastle United meet Liverpool.

Next up we have Bazoox:

Ticketed or ticketless for Sunday?

I’m ticketless and shall be watching the match with Auld Ellas and other friends in Tynemouth Club.

I’ll be there at 11am on the dot because it’s going to be chocka block man.

The old favourite, would you rather win this Cup Final on Sunday or qualify for the Champions League via the Premier League (Obviously bearing in mind the PSR/money side of things as well)?

I’m desperate to see my team lift silverware.

Lifting the Carabao/League Cup to end a 70 year domestic drought, would be 100 times more sweeter than qualifying for a European competition that has been rigged for years.

Maybe a bit more difficult, would you rather win on Sunday but have no Champions League qualification these next five seasons, or lose on Sunday and have Champions League qualification guaranteed for each of the next five seasons. (Obviously bearing in mind the PSR/money side of things as well)?

Win on Sunday, for same reasons stated above.

Our loyal fans need at least one day of glory in their lives to enjoy and look back on.

What would be your starting eleven in the Carabao Cup Final?

The team that started on Monday at West Ham.

Pope; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton Murphy, Isak, Barnes

If Martin Dubravka had of started against West Ham he’d be in.

At the moment I prefer Dubravka but you cannot keep chopping and changing keepers.

What would have been your starting eleven if everybody had been available?

Lewis Hall and Anthony Gordon would definitely both have started in a team that I would of picked, if they had have been available.

What chance do Newcastle United have of lifting the trophy (rating it between 0 and 10)?

10/10.

Mark my words, Newcastle United will not lose this game, the Cup is coming back to Tyneside!

How important was the West Ham match to our chances in the final? Has defeating the Hammers gave us a better (or worse?!!) chance, compared to if NUFC had lost on Monday?

Newcastle are heading into the final with the boost of a win in a big stadium in the capital.

Similarly, what impact do you think it will have on Newcastle’s chances, what happened at Anfield on Tuesday night against PSG?

Liverpool are going into it on the back of a defeat at Anfield in the competition that they cherish the most.

Pick the bones out of that.

Who do you think are the three most important players on Sunday and in what order and why?

Our three most important players at Wembley will be Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn, in that order.

Our Rolls Royce Alex is our most likely match winner.

I’m banking on our captain Bruno to marshall our midfield right from the start, let the scousers know that they are in for one hell of a game.

I believe that if Big Dan has a good game we will win the Cup.

Looking back at your time supporting Newcastle United, which are the times when you thought NUFC were potentially going to win something?

The Premier League in 1996. Enough said.

Would this automatically be the highlight of your time supporting NUFC if they beat Liverpool on Sunday?

Yes. Plus it would be revenge against the team that began most of my/our heartache in 1974.

Do you think if Newcastle United win this trophy it will live up to what you ever hoped it feel like, or do you think maybe a bit of an anti-climax, as in…is that it?

You are bloody joking man. I’ve been waiting for this all my life.

How would you describe how you feel ahead of this match – excited, terrified, can’t wait, dreading it…?

I’m excited as I’ve ever been regarding Newcastle United, the team I love. Probably even more so.

I think it’s an age thing and we all have been waiting so long for that taste of glory that some others take for granted.

Do you think Eddie Howe and his team have got enough recognition for even getting to the final, considering the fact that in this cup run Newcastle have defeated current top four sides Chelsea, Forest and Arsenal (twice!) just to get to Wembley?

No, I don’t, but it’s hardly a surprise.

The mainstream media are so far up the Septic Six cartel’s jacksies and they don’t even try to make any effort to disguise it.

How do you feel compared to two years ago before the Man U final?

Going into the 2023 Man Utd final I had a good feeling leading up to the game, from the moment we secured our place at Wembley.

On the day of the match some doubts began to creep in.

I seriously wondered if the team was ready and up for it.

This time the build up is more calm and that is mainly because of the experience of two years ago. You live and you learn as they say.

Anything special planned if Newcastle win?

Nowt out of the usual planned.

I’ll be straight down to the Fat Ox in Whitley for 10am on Monday. Then onto the Three Brass Monkeys, and finally get the bus along to Tynemouth Club.

I’ll stagger, not walk, hyem, and crack open the single malt that I’ve been saving for this occasion.
