Ben Jacobs is very well connected at Chelsea, and it’s always interesting to hear his perspective on the club’s perspective on things.
So speaking on the London is Blue podcast today, we were interested to hear what he would have to say about the Enzo Fernandez situation after the midfielder was banned by the club for two games after casting doubt over his future on the international break.
“From Chelsea’s perspective, regardless of how big the Man City game is, they want to send a message saying ‘if you want a move away, you can’t orchestrate it via the public and the media. If you want a move away, you can’t offset that against the contract talks that are taking place,'” Jacobs explained.
“So they’re turning around and telling Enzo Fernandez ‘nobody’s bigger than the club, and you’re the vice captain of the club. You’re on the leadership team of the club, and you have to go about things the right way.'”

Two Chelsea players spoke out about the club’s project during the international break, but only one was punished. The reason why is explained here.
The same BBC article claims that the club have made promises to some of their senior players about signing top quality reinforcements in three areas of the team.
