„You want to win everything“: Laimer explains the winner mentality at FC Bayern | OneFootball

Konrad Laimer has long since taken on a central role at FC Bayern. In his home country, the Austrian talks about what makes the record champions special and why the team is never satisfied despite its successes

„Things can always go better in soccer, but basically things have already gone the way you want them to. I’m now in my prime as a footballer,“ Laimer explained in the ORF interview. He feels in top physical shape and sees this as the basis for his ambition to develop further. „I’ve already experienced a lot, feel very good physically and now want to continue on my path with many exciting tasks in the coming weeks, months and years. It all feels very good, I want to continue in the same way and always do a little more, because there’s always a little more to do.“

This mindset fits in perfectly with FC Bayern’s self-image. Standing still is not an option, even when results and titles are right. Laimer emphasises how important daily work is: „The most important thing as a footballer is that you are healthy and look after your body, that you are always ready to keep training and keep improving. I want to take the next steps, there is still plenty of time and plenty of room to improve. That’s exactly the mindset I’m going into next year with.“

Laimer: „Always room for improvement“

With a view to the decisive phases of the season in particular, Laimer makes it clear what makes the difference for the Munich team: „Anything is always possible at FC Bayern, and of course you also have a certain greed, a certain attitude that you simply want to win everything.“ At the same time, he warns against resting on your laurels: „But there’s always room for improvement here too, we’re characterised by the fact that we always want to work on ourselves. When it comes to the decisive games in the spring, we have to be the better team on the day.“

Laimer himself is hardly surprised that he has quickly established himself as a regular at FC Bayern and has won over the fans. He knows exactly what profile he brings to the table. „I’m always convinced of the qualities I can bring to the team. I’m just the type of guy who puts everything into it and then sees what comes out in the end and who always gives everything in training and in games.“
