INTER PRIMAVERA'S FORM

Benny Carbone's Inter U20 side have had a mixed run in the league. In their last five games, the Nerazzurri have recorded two draws, two losses, and a single win. Their 3-2 victory over Fiorentina on 8 March was their first league success since 30 January. Inter Primavera currently sit ninth in the table with 43 points. In their most recent league match, Inter suffered a 4-1 defeat away at Torino, but the Youth League has often provided a chance for redemption. After finishing 14th in the League Phase, the Nerazzurri progressed past Köln in the round of 32, winning 3-1 at the Stadion Köln thanks to stoppage-time goals from Zarate and Kukulis.

The tie against Real Betis in the round of 16 was a rollercoaster. Inter raced into a 2-0 lead with a brace from Iddrissou in the opening six minutes, only for the Spaniards to make it 2-2 before half-time. Betis went 3-2 up early in the second half, but Carbone's side showed great character to stage a spectacular comeback. Iddrissou scored again to level the match, Mancuso restored the Nerazzurri's lead, and Marello sealed the win with a fantastic free-kick. The 5-3 victory secured Inter Primavera a place in the UEFA Youth League quarter-finals for a second consecutive season.

OPPONENTS | BENFICA

Benfica are one of the top youth sides in Europe. The Portuguese club have reached the UEFA Youth League final on four occasions, most recently in the 2021/22 season, when they won the trophy for the first and only time to date. This season, Benfica have impressed both with their football and their results. They finished the League Phase in second place with 15 points from a possible 18, losing only to Chelsea, who completed the phase with a perfect record. Their toughest challenge came in the round of 32 against Slavia Praha, a match they won 3-2 after trailing 2-1 with 30 minutes remaining. In the quarter-finals, the Lisbon-based outfit ran out 6-2 winners over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, with a hat-trick from Francisco Silva and further goals from Umeh, Gonçalo Moreira, and Miguel Figueiredo. Across eight matches, they have seven wins and a single defeat, scoring 35 goals and conceding eleven – impressive figures that underline the quality of Benfica's squad. In the Youth League, ten different Benfica players have found the net. Their top scorers are 20-year-old forward Gonçalo Moreira with nine goals and 18-year-old forward Francisco Silva with eight. The duo rank among the competition's leading scorers, behind only Real Betis' Rodrigo Marina (ten goals). The team are coached by Vitor Vinha, a former defender who has been in charge since the summer of 2024.
