Earlier this year he found the net in a 1-1 draw with Santos and a 1-0 win over Velo Clube in the Paulista.

He then spent nearly a month out after a grade 2 biceps femoris injury in his left thigh against São Bernardo on 15 February. Alberto returned on the 19th in a goalless draw at Chapecoense’s Arena Condá.

In Corinthians’ most recent match, he equalised against Flamengo on 19 minutes, converting a Matheus Bidu cross.

Last season, his first back-to-back came in February, scoring in derbies against Palmeiras on the 6th and Santos on the 12th in the Paulistão. He repeated the feat twice more.

In May he struck against Santos on the 18th in the Brasileirão, then scored versus Novorizontino on the 21st in the Copa do Brasil third round second leg. Later, he opened the scoring in defeat to Flamengo on 28 September before netting against Mirassol on 4 October, both in national league fixtures.

Despite rotation and that lay-off, Alberto leads Corinthians’ scoring in 2026 with two in the Paulista, plus one in the Supercopa Rei and one in the Brasileirão.

The number nine now targets another Rio opponent, as Corinthians visit Fluminense at the Maracanã on Wednesday at 21:30 in the ninth round of the national league.
