This Saturday (3rd), the Corinthians squad returns to the Dr. Joaquim Grava Training Center to begin preparations for the 2026 season, which will include the following competitions: Supercopa do Brasil, Paulistão, Campeonato Brasileiro, Libertadores, and Copa do Brasil. One of the absences in the first days of training will be forward Yuri Alberto, as initially reported by journalist André Galvão from SBT.

This is because the striker traveled to Italy this Friday (2nd) and is expected to miss the first week of Corinthians' pre-season. Additionally, according to the journalist, the athlete traveled to Europe to continue the process of obtaining his Italian citizenship. The number 9 had already informed the club's management about this commitment.

According to Meu Timão, on the other hand, the expectation is that the Corinthians striker will return to Brazil within a week. The player's trip to Italy stirred social media, as he has been rumored for several seasons to be joining Roma.

In August 2025, the club from Parque São Jorge rejected an offer from the Italians for the player – R$ 178 million (28 million euros), information that was disclosed by Benjamin Back at the time – and subsequently renewed the number 9's contract until July 2030. His release clause for foreign clubs is 100 million euros (over R$ 600 million).

In the last season, Yuri Alberto was the top scorer for Corinthians with 19 goals and three assists in 58 games, being decisive in the victories of the Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil, scoring goals in the finals against Palmeiras and Vasco, respectively. Since joining the club in mid-2022, he has scored 76 goals and provided 22 assists in 207 matches (178 as a starter). Additionally, he has won two titles, precisely the two mentioned above.

Yuri Alberto is the top scorer for Corinthians in the 21st century and the all-time leading scorer at the Neo Química Arena – inaugurated in 2014 – with 45 goals. In 2024, he was the country's top scorer with 31 goals (15 of them in the Brasileirão) and was instrumental in the team's surge in the 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro (from the relegation zone to the Copa Libertadores qualifiers).
