Yuri Alberto surged up Corinthians’ assist rankings after laying on two goals in the 3-1 win over Grêmio in the 18th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro on Saturday.
In the second goal, already after the break, the number nine exchanged passes with André Luiz and supplied the final ball for him to score. For the third, he picked out Kaio César on the right, who advanced on an individual run before finishing accurately.
Meu Timao reports that 33 of Corinthians’ 41 goals since January have had an assist. Yuri Alberto now has four, moving into second place on his own. Rodrigo Garro leads with 11, with Matheuzinho third on three.
Gustavo Henrique, Matheus Bidu, Kaio César and Pedro Raul have two each. Seven others are on one, Ryan, André Carrillo, Zakaria Labyad, Jesse Lingard, Vitinho, Dieguinho and Memphis Depay.
The win in the South moved Corinthians up to ninth on 24 points. It was their final match before the World Cup break, with the squad off until 25 June.
They are scheduled to return in July, first on 12 in a friendly against Cascavel, then on 22, a base date, against Remo in the Nacional.
