Yuri Berchiche resumed group work in the morning session at Lezama after training alone the previous day, ahead of Sunday’s 19.00 visit of Celta de Vigo. According to El Correo, he wore protective strapping and the mood around his recovery is optimistic. Safety is assured, though European hopes remain alive.
The left back from Zarautz missed the Barcelona trip due to a contusion in his left fibula, with the final diagnosis confirming it was only a heavy knock. With competitive clearance virtually secured, he is poised to strengthen the left flank in the run-in. His depth was missed against Espanyol.
The upbeat note on Yuri is tempered by structural absences. Athletic face the run-in without three pillars, with Dani Vivián, in principle, plus Nico Williams and Oihan Sancet out for the season. The medical staff have slowed things to avoid more serious setbacks after accumulated fatigue and various issues.
Egiluz remains sidelined for the entire campaign, continuing a long rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament rupture.
Uncertainty surrounds Álex Berenguer, who did not train with the group and is a doubt for Sunday. The club have not yet issued an official update on the reasons for his absence.
