Yury Torsky makes Maracanã debut at Flamengo v Palmeiras, vows not to return | OneFootball

The Maracanã hosted Flamengo v Palmeiras on Saturday, drawing a 2026 Brasileiro record crowd of 71,205, and finishing 3-0 to the visitors. Among those inside was Yury Torsky, the Russian fan who became a 2018 World Cup meme, known online as the "Torcedor misterioso" and "Feiticeiro do hexa".

According to Globo.com, it was his first visit to Rio de Janeiro, and he posted Instagram videos of his Maracanã debut. He said he was neutral and enjoyed the atmosphere, wearing a white Brazil shirt.

After Flamengo’s loss, some home supporters branded him bad luck and urged him not to return. Torsky then filmed himself cancelling a ticket he had bought for Tuesday’s Libertadores tie against Cusco, saying he would honour the requests.

On this Brazil trip he has also been in São Paulo, visiting the Football Museum at Pacaembu. He bought tickets for Corinthians 1-0 Barra-SC in the Copa do Brasil, Palmeiras 1-1 Cruzeiro in the league, and Palmeiras 0-1 Cerro Porteño in the Libertadores.

Torsky supports Krylya Sovetov from his home city of Samara. He was also trying to secure a ticket for Brazil v Panama next Sunday.
