Zaragoza goalkeeper Esteban Andrada has been suspended for 13 matches after punching Huesca defender Jorge Pulido following his dismissal. The Spanish football federation announced the sanction on Wednesday.

The flashpoint came in added time of Sunday’s Aragon derby in Spain's second tier. Andrada received a second yellow for shoving Pulido, then, after the red card, punched the defender. Zaragoza lost 0-1 in the 37th round.

The punishment comprises 12 matches for the punch plus one for the initial red card, which rules him out for the rest of the season, with five games remaining. He was also fined.

Andrada apologised after the match, acknowledging the incident reflected poorly on the club and fell short of professional standards. The episode was widely shared on social media.

The Argentine, 35, is on loan at Zaragoza from Monterrey until the end of the season.
