Zé Rafael is training away from the squad at CT Rei Pelé and is awaiting an offer to leave Santos, according to Diario Do Peixe. He has been omitted from recent squads for technical reasons and is not expected to feature again.
This year he has one goal and one assist in 12 appearances, including the Copa do Brasil against Coritiba and late minutes versus Cuenca in Ecuador in the Sudamericana. He also played five times in the Paulistão.
In the Brasileiro, he started the first two rounds, setting up a goal against Chapecoense and scoring against São Paulo. He then made late cameos against Vasco, Flamengo and Palmeiras. As he has not reached the appearance limit in Série A, he can still move to another Brazilian club.
His year has also been interrupted by fitness issues, including conjunctivitis, tendinitis, right thigh oedema and an ankle sprain.
Last season he played one Copa do Brasil match and featured in 27 league rounds, scoring against Corinthians.
He joined Santos in February last year on a contract running to the end of 2027, and turns 33 in June. Santos paid R$ 15 million to Palmeiras for the deal and now view a departure favourably to reduce the wage bill.
