Meu Timão reports that Zenit have signalled they will submit a bid for Corinthians right-back Matheuzinho after the World Cup. Flamengo could profit because they hold 32% of his economic rights.
Flamengo are monitoring the situation. Corinthians own 60% and Londrina hold 8%.
In January, Corinthians rejected a seven million euro offer for Matheuzinho. The report suggests any post-tournament proposal could be higher, with the competition staged in June and July.
If Corinthians accepted a hypothetical seven million euro bid, Flamengo would be due 2.1 million euros, roughly R$ 12.6 million at current rates.
Matheuzinho joined Flamengo’s under-20s from Londrina in 2019 and stepped up to the first team the following year, staying until 2024. He played 153 games, scoring four goals with 22 assists. The 25-year-old won one Libertadores, one Brasileirão, one Supercopa, one Copa do Brasil and three Cariocas.
