Casemiro and Matheus Cunha will represent Brazil, and Lisandro Martinez has been selected for Argentina.

Manuel Ugarte, Senne Lammens, Amad and Noussair Mazraoui will also join up with their respective nations.

Zidane Iqbal

There will also be a role for some former United players in the World Cup, and this is true for former player, Zidane Iqbal.

Iqbal came through Carrington, joining at age nine, and signed his first professional deal in 2021. He also made his senior debut in December that year in the Champions League.

As a result, “he became the first British-born South Asian as well as the first Iraqi to play for the club, and the first ever British South Asian to play in the Champions League.”

In June 2023, he left the club and joined Utrecht.

Iraq call up

Iqbal has played for his nation 20 times and scored two goals since making his debut in 2022.

TalkSPORT report that, “former Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal has been named in Iraq’s World Cup squad.”

Iqbal has only featured seven times for Utrecht’s senior side, mainly playing his football for the youth team in spite of being 23 years old.

The article reports that, “Iraq have been drawn in Group I and will face Norway in Boston, France in Philadelphia and then Senegal in Toronto.”
