Zinédine Zidane to take over from Didier Deschamps as France manager on September 1st | OneFootball

Zinédine Zidane will officially take over from Didier Deschamps as France’s national team manager on September 1st, according to L’Equipe. The former Real Madrid head coach was the overwhelming favourite to replace his former France and Juventus teammate as Les Bleus boss. Deschamps will put an end to his 14-year tenure tonight in overseeing his 185th and final France game against England for the 2026 World Cup Bronze final.

The French FA is expected to announce Zidane’s arrival in the coming days, presumably next week. But Zidane’s contract as France’s national team manager is due to start on September 1st. The same could be said regarding Zidane’s coaching staff members. Zidane is set to sign a four-year deal with the French FA. 

The 1998 Ballon d’Or winner’s tenure as Les Bleus manager will start by four UEFA Nations League games during a three-week international break.
