Zion Suzuki impresses as Leeds United ‘to battle’ Aston Villa for £26m Parma keeper | OneFootball

Zion Suzuki underlined his credentials with Japan at the World Cup as Leeds United links persist around a summer move.

Calciomercato reports that Leeds will battle Aston Villa for the Parma goalkeeper, adding both clubs have made attempts to sign him and that he has three years left on the contract he agreed in 2024.

Suzuki's tournament ended on Monday night, Japan losing 2-1 to Brazil in the round of 32 in Houston, with Gabriel Martinelli and Casemiro scoring.

He made four saves, notably denying Vinicius Jr, and kept Japan in the contest until stoppage time when Martinelli struck the winner.

Parma are reported to value Suzuki at around €30 million, £26m, and it remains to be seen whether Leeds press on during the summer window. Illan Meslier will leave as a free agent this summer, while Karl Darlow’s contract expires at the end of this month, so they are expected to go into the market for a new goalkeeper despite Lucas Perri arriving 12 months ago.
