With the World Cup now over, things are going to get very hot, very fast in the transfer market.

Fabrizio Romano’s Twitter feed has been on fire for the last couple of days, and there are updates on all sorts of players.

One who is almost certain to be on the move is Cristian Romero of Spurs. They’ve signed new central defenders already to replace him, and have opened the door for him to go. Even though things are looking bright under new manager Roberto de Zerbi, the last two years of disaster in north London seem to have tainted Romero’s relationship with the club and fans, and a fresh start seems to appeal to both of them.

According to Romano, the most likely destinations for the Argentina centre back are in Italy. Romano’s latest update confirms that Romero will “100% leave Spurs” this summer, and has been in “direct talks” with Inter Milan this week.

Barcelona are also in the mix – although Romano adds that this would only be “in the case of centre back exits” from the Nou Camp.

With their long history of Argentine connections and their love of a nasty central defender, Inter seem the obvious option, and we’d be surprised if Romero ended up anywhere else by the time the dust settles on this window.
