Manchester United ended a three-match winless Premier League streak on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils had a mixed performance in the opening half against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

Patrick Dorgu’s sending-off before the break was a huge blow, but they managed to come on top with the victory in the second half.

Harry Maguire scored the winner from a fine Bruno Fernandes delivery in the 47th minute.

Fernandes was undoubtedly the man of the match as he was involved in all three goals, but Maguire was the unsung hero yesterday with a superb all-round performance.

The Englishman won 100 percent of his ground and 80 percent of his aerial duels. The centre-back completed 100 percent of his tackles (2/2) and had three impressive shots on target.

Maguire also made seven clearances with five recoveries and three blocks. The former captain should have scored at least two goals, but goalkeeper Alex Palmer denied him in the opening 45 minutes.

The defender completed an overall 46 passes in the game with 70 touches.

The 31-year-old received a 7/10 rating from Manchester Evening News for his efforts. We believe he was as good as Fernandes. Maguire defended well against a tricky opponent in Liam Delap.

Maguire had a forgettable outing in the last game against Everton at Goodison Park. He was deemed guilty for not clearing his lines as Abdoulaye Doucoure pounced to score for the Toffees.

He made amends against the Tractor Boys yesterday. Maguire has become a favourite under head coach Ruben Amorim.

If he can perform at the same level in the coming months, we won’t be surprised if the club open talks over a new contract.
