There has been plenty of noise surrounding Rangers this summer already and the club’s midfield department is very much a focus of that attention. Names have been floated and offers talked about, but behind the scenes things are happening that may not please everyone. As always with Ibrox, Diomande Rangers Besiktas opinions are flying and emotions are high, and not every supporter will agree with what could be on the cards for one of the side’s higher-profile additions from the last two windows.

When Rangers signed Mohamed Diomande, there was a degree of excitement over his profile. A dynamic midfielder with the kind of athleticism fans crave, he looked to offer something a little different in the engine room. But several months into his Rangers career, the Ibrox faithful remain far from united in their assessment of his impact. While some believe he still has room to grow and develop into a key player, others are less convinced. The potential of a hefty profit has now clouded the debate, as Besiktas’ bid of £10M has apparently been submitted with talk Rangers will hold out for closer to £15M.

Should Rangers receive anything in that region for Diomande Rangers Besiktas, it would be excellent business. The club did not pay anywhere near that to secure his services and despite his flashes of promise, he has not been a standout performer in the middle of the park. The Ibrox club have had countless midfielders over the years and Diomande does not currently sit among the more memorable names. His numbers have been unremarkable and his contribution in big matches has been limited. In fact, even when fans criticised other new signings more harshly, Diomande has largely flown under the radar, rarely singled out as a standout success.

Of course, there is always risk in selling a player who has not completely failed either. The fear that he could flourish elsewhere always looms. But Rangers are not in a position to gamble sentimentally. This is a club that must trade cleverly and ruthlessly. If they can make a quick and clean profit on a player who has not established himself as indispensable, they must take it. Not least because previous mistakes in the market have made these sorts of deals essential to rebuild both balance sheet and squad strength.

There is also the bigger picture to consider. Rangers are targeting multiple players this window and funds will need to be raised to support that activity. Moving on someone like Diomande Rangers Besiktas opens up space for another addition, potentially one who is more consistent and impactful in the Scottish Premiership. Rangers cannot carry passengers and while Diomande is no failure, he is not central either. He sits awkwardly between potential and productivity and at Ibrox, there is rarely time to wait.

Transfer data shows there is genuine interest in the Ivorian and Rangers are absolutely right to consider their options. If £15M is achieved, that figure would represent one of the better sales in recent memory. Fans might be split over his ability but few would argue the financial side of such a deal would not favour the club. Rangers have spent far too long underselling assets or losing them for nothing. This time there is a chance to do things differently.

If Diomande is sold for a figure in that region, the club will move on. Just as it always does.
