The last few weeks have hardly been easy or straightforward for FC Barcelona. Constant struggles and headaches have followed and completely derailed the Catalan giants. From issues on the field to problems away from it, Barcelona has had a bizarre end to 2024.

Beyond just the massive dilemma of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s registrations, one that continues to creep into 2025 and still demands the complete attention of the club, there are other issues as well. Certain key players remain injured, and there is no direct replacement for them.

While both of the two currently unregistered players, Olmo and Victor, participated in the most recent training session, another key player was absent despite reports suggesting that he would be taking part in the first training session of the new year. Fortunately, however, the latest update is a positive one as well.

According to Javi Miguel, Lamine Yamal is currently expected to return to group training tomorrow. That would mean that the Barcelona winger will be back on Thursday to participate under Hansi Flick’s orders during the group training, even though it’s stated that he will only take part in one session.

At the moment, the objective is not to rush him back for the upcoming Copa del Rey clash against UD Barbastro. Instead, the objective is to have him ready for the Spanish Super Cup fixture against Athletic Club that will take place after the game against Barbastro and it will see Barcelona travel to Saudi Arabia.

Until then, Yamal will need to take one step at a time. Despite the fact that the €180 million-rated Barcelona superstar is the face of the team and is already regarded as one of the most crucial components of Hansi Flick’s system, La Blaugrana will likely have to get through their next fixture without his help.
