FC Barcelona have a crucial match awaiting them as they take on Inter Milan in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie tonight.

There is no doubt that this is one of the most important matches of the season for the Blaugranes, and the importance the Catalans are putting on this game is apparent from how Hansi Flick opted to rest most of his starters in the match immediately preceding it, i.e., the league game against Real Valladolid.

Nightmare debut for Dani Rodriguez

This league game thus became an opportunity for some players from the youth academy to play some minutes with the first team, and one of the players who did so was the winger Dani Rodriguez.

Unfortunately, such an auspicious occasion of his debut with the first team was struck with misfortune, as Rodriguez dislocated his right shoulder and had to leave the pitch only 38 minutes into the game.

Surgery one of his options for recovery

Mundo Deportivo has now provided an update on his situation, and their report claims that the youngster underwent tests yesterday to assess his recovery options, and he might have to undergo surgery because of this physical problem.

Taking this option of surgery would mean the youngster would remain on the sidelines for the next two to three months. Thus, he would be unable to help Barca Atletic in this crucial phase of the season. However, this option would also mean he would be fully fit for the next preseason.

His involvement in this preseason can be crucial, as Hansi Flick is thinking about making Rodriguez a part of his squad for the next season.

Although injuries have kept him from playing consistently and performing at his best level for Barca Atletic, he has still scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in 382 minutes played across 10 matches.

The match against Real Valladolid made him the seventh youth player to make his debut under Hansi Flick, but for now, a critical decision awaits him as he starts his recovery process.
