2. BL: Late own goal hands Münster all three points in Bielefeld | OneFootball

After going behind early on, Alexander Ende’s side dug in to fight back and take home an important 2-1 victory courtesy of Leon Schneider’s 89th minute own goal. 

Bielefeld made the perfect start, taking the lead inside the opening five minutes. Goalkeeper Morten Behrens was ruled to have fouled a Bielefeld player in the box following a corner, and top scorer Joel Grodowski made no mistake from the spot, confidently converting against his former club.

It took until just after the half-hour mark for Münster to respond. A mix-up in the Bielefeld defence allowed Oliver Batista Meier to steal in, stay composed and slot past Jonas Kersken to level the scores. The sides exchanged further half-chances, but the match remained finely poised at 1-1 heading into the break.

A bruising first half featuring 22 fouls and five yellow cards set the tone for a similarly combative second period. Neither team was willing to back down as physical battles dominated and clear chances all but disappeared. The game drifted towards what looked an inevitable draw.

But in the 89th minute Münster found a breakthrough in unexpected fashion. A low cross from the right caused chaos, with Schneider inadvertently diverting the ball into his own net beyond the stranded Kersken, sealing a crucial away win for Alexander Ende’s side after an otherwise uneventful second half.

The result gives Münster their first away victory in five attempts and lifts them up to ninth place, further distancing themselves from the relegation scrap. Bielefeld, meanwhile, fall to a second straight defeat and end the weekend in 11th.
