Hannover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig joined Darmstadt at the top of the 2. Bundesliga table with six points after wins over Fortuna Düsseldorf and Greuther Fürth. Meanwhile, Magdeburg picked up their first win of the season away in Magdeburg.

Fortuna Düsseldorf 0-2 Hannover 96

Fortuna hoped to recover from last week’s 5-1 defeat to Arminia Bielefeld, but they were second best to Hannover in front of their fans. The guests had the better chances throughout a nervy encounter.

Boris Tomiak puts Hannover in front from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. Jannik Rochelt failed to extend their lead when he provided an early contender for the “Miss of the Season”, but fellow substitutes Daisuke Yokota and Benjamin Källman combined well to seal the win in the 87th minute.

Eintracht Braunschweig 3-2 Greuther Fürth

Braunschweig also secured their second win of the season at home against Greuther Fürth. Thomas Kleine’s side scored two goals in the first ten minutes against Dynamo Dresden, and they also took the lead here in the 15th minute thanks to Felix Klaus’ second goal of the season.

However, Braunschweig were leading at the break as Lukas Frenkert and Erencan Yardımcı scored on their home debut. Felix Higl thought he won Fürth a point with a bullet header in the 88th minute, but Sebastian Polter won it for the hosts in injury-time. The 34-year-old calmly slotted a penalty-kick home for his 70th goal in Germany’s two divisions.

Dynamo Dresden 1-2 Magdeburg

Dresden and Magdeburg were searching for their first point(s) of the season after defeats in the opening weekend. In the usual electric atmosphere at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, the newly-promoted side failed to take their home advantage.

All the three goals of the game were scored inside the first-half. Christoph Daferner canceled out Jean Hugonet’s opener with his second goal of the season in the 44th minute. However, there was still time for Magdeburg’s Dutch striker Martijn Kaars to score his 20th 2. Bundesliga goal before the break.
