Two 19-year-old prospects look set to leave West London on loan this winter window

Queens Park Rangers are expected to see several departures during the January transfer window.

Striker Michael Frey is likely to leave the Championship club this month, as per West London Sport, but the 31-year-old is far from the only player facing the exit door in the coming weeks.

Two promising young prospects could also depart Loftus Road before the February 2 deadline, albeit temporarily, as they search for regular football elsewhere for the second half of this season.

FLW takes a look at who they are below...

Emmerson Sutton

Emmerson Sutton's loan spell at Morecambe has all but ended, and according to Football Insider’s Pete O'Rourke, the 19-year-old winger, who recently celebrated his birthday on the 28th December, is expected to head back out on loan in January rather than remain with his parent club.

The young English talent, who progressed through the QPR academy after joining at under-12 level, has already attracted lots of reported interest from a host of other National League sides.

As per the aforementioned report by O’Rourke, Hartlepool United have emerged as one of the clubs wanting Sutton’s signature for the rest of 2025/26 - after he managed one goal and one assist in 16 league matches for the Shrimps.

Sutton has already made three appearances for QPR's first-team - his last being in the Carabao Cup against Plymouth Argyle in August, where he made seven defensive contributions from right midfield.

However, with obvious limited opportunities for regular senior football at the Championship club, another loan move away from west London appears all but certain to happen soon.

Daniel Bennie

Daniel Bennie presents another case of a talented 19-year-old requiring regular football to speed up his development - but it’s looking like he will be playing at a much higher level than Sutton.

O'Rourke also revealed in a separate tweet on X that the Australian youth international is the subject of interest from multiple League One sides 'ahead of a potential loan move'.

Unlike Sutton, Bennie remained with the R's Development Squad for the first half of this season, where he has scored seven goals and provided three assists in only nine games.

It's without question really that Bennie's pathway at QPR is complicated by the quality they already have in forward areas. The Australian seems to be a natural left-winger, but the likes of Koki Saito and Paul Smyth are just some who are ahead of him in Julien Stephan's pecking order for that position.

Bennie appeared in the same Carabao Cup game as Sutton, and even though he managed to score and play the full 90 minutes, he hasn't had as much game time with the first-team as he enjoyed last season - in which he played 13 times.

The general feeling surrounding R's fans suggest that Bennie deserves a chance at proving himself outside of the Championship, with one replying to O'Rourke's tweet that he 'always puts a shift in.'

All in all, both Sutton and Bennie’s immediate prospects, along with Frey, appear limited at Loftus Road. With the deadline set for February 2nd, QPR will most likely facilitate moves for all well before that, given how quickly each of the reports mentioned have come out.
