Although he did not become a regular starter for Hansi Flick, the 2024-25 season was still one of great progress for the FC Barcelona midfielder Gavi, who returned from a long-term injury and gained an important role in the Blaugrana squad.

However, his main role on the pitch is as an attacking midfielder, and this position has a lot of competition in this Barcelona squad, with Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, and Pablo Torre all competing with him for minutes.

Still, Gavi did not have any doubts about his future at the Catalan club, and he made this clear as he appeared in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Gavi praises Luis Enrique

The midfielder has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 club that won the treble this season and is led by the Spanish coach, Luis Enrique.

The 20-year-old La Masia product praised the Spanish coach and revealed how he had trusted him to give him his debut with the Spanish national side:

“For me, he’s the best. He’s number one, truly exceptional — both he and his staff. I’m really happy for him. He was the one who gave me my debut with the national team, against the European champions, Italy, at San Siro. I’ll never forget that day. And he had the guts to play me, even though everyone came down on him. I’m really happy for him — he deserves everything.”

Future at Barcelona

However, despite the interest from the Parisians, Gavi was clear that he wants to remain at Barcelona:

“Yes, I’m absolutely sure about it. People believe whatever they read in any media outlet…”

Further talking about his commitment to the Blaugrana club, the midfielder said:

“Yes, yes, it’s possible. And I understand people who might believe it. But it’s not going to happen. I’m very calm. My dream and mindset are to spend my entire career at Barça. It’s the club of my life and where I want to succeed. I don’t want any other, and I’ll give everything I have to make it happen.”

Thus, Gavi has ruled out any possibility of him leaving Barcelona anytime soon. Hopefully, he will be able to get a more prominent role in the squad next season, and continue growing as a player in the years to come.
