Lionel Messi at the 2026 World Cup? The Inter Miami captain remains noncommittal.

Next summer, Argentina will defend their world champion title at the 2026 World Cup. Right now, the big question is whether Lionel Messi will be there with the squad. The Inter Miami forward says he'll make his decision next year.

"To be honest, it would be extraordinary to play at the World Cup. I’d love to be in top shape and play an important role to help my national team, if I’m there. When preseason starts with Inter Miami next year, I’ll assess things day by day and see if I can be at 100%, if I can be useful to the group, to the national team, and then I’ll make a decision," he explained in an interview with the American channel NBC.

As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
