FC Barcelona are now in a position to consider making moves in the January transfer window, having finally returned to the 1:1 financial rule. While they will still need to create salary space, the club is operating under much more favorable circumstances.
The Catalan club is looking to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan, although nothing is advanced on this front. Hansi Flick is said to be willing to take the PL forward on a temporary basis and see what he offers.
AC Milan were said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old Englishman this January transfer window and had already held talks with his representatives. However, now, as per SPORT, the Italian club has all but pulled out of the running for his signature.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport, an Italian publication has revealed that Rashford has not yet responded to Milan’s offer and the club has given up on this pursuit due to the Englishman’s desire to join Barcelona and continue his career in Spain.
Despite United’s rush to ship him off their wage books, albeit temporarily and maybe partially, Rashford is said to be willing to wait until the end of the transfer window to give Barcelona enough time to find a way to get him on loan.
What Rashford adds to the table is quite similar to Ferran Torres. He thrives at being a runner, although, unlike the Spaniard, he is comfortable with the ball at his feet, to an extent. However, unlike the Barcelona attacker though, the Englishman is not in form.
Make no mistake, signing Rashford, even on a simple loan deal, comes with its own risks, and for a club like Barcelona, it is very much a gamble. However, with the downsides very less, it is one that they must be willing to take.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona find a way to sign Rashford. If one would have to venture a guess, it would probably be at the expense of finding Ansu Fati a move away from the club, and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
