3 clubs Alejandro Garnacho could leave Manchester United for

Alejandro Garnacho doesn’t seem to have any future at Man United. Several reports have suggested that the relationship between the winger and manager Ruben Amorim has become so bad, Amorim told him to ‘pray’ he can find a new club.

He’s been linked with moves across Europe and in the Premier League. At just 20 years old, he still has plenty to offer and lots of time to make up for a frustrating season with Man United. Here are the three clubs we believe would be a good fit.

Bayer Leverkusen

It’s about to be a big summer for Bayer Leverkusen. Xabi Alonso has left, joining Real Madrid, and Florian Wirtz looks set to follow suit and sign for Liverpool for a club record £113 million, according to The Athletic.

Erik ten Hag is the man who has been tasked with replacing Alonso. A pretty massive ask considering the Spaniard won the club’s first and only Bundesliga title. What has happened at Man United since his departure has painted Ten Hag in a favourable light, perhaps he wasn’t as incompetent as so many thought.

Leverkusen is an opportunity for the Dutchman to reclaim his reputation, perhaps it could be for Garnacho too. Ten Hag was the man who gave the winger his big break, and he enjoyed his best football under him

Per Fabrizio Romano, a reunion is on the cards, so don’t be too surprised if he starts ripping it up in Germany soon.

Napoli

The newly crowned Serie A champions have been linked with a move for Garnacho since January, and the sale of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG. The young Argentine is certainly the type of player Napoli could do with considering their lack of quality wingers.

Every top-level player needs an ego; the appeal of replicating countryman Diego Maradona would likely be in the back of his mind should the Italians make an official offer to sign Garnacho. Former United teammate Scott McTominay has already become a god-like figure in Naples.

One thing is for certain, Antonio Conte won’t take any of his nonsense. A more disciplined environment might be what Granacho needs to get back on track.

Chelsea

It’s been reported that Garnacho would prefer to stay in the Premier League, and following their qualification for next season’s Champions League, United’s £60 million asking price wouldn’t be too much of an obstacle.

Given his age and profile, Garnacho is the exact type of player Chelsea have been going after since the Clearlake Capital takeover, and the fact that he played a role in Man United’s worst-ever Premier League season won’t faze them.

Like Napoli, Chelsea were interested in signing him in January, but unlike the Italians, he wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter. The sheer number of quality young players at Chelsea’s disposal means he would have to fight for his place, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

There doesn’t seem to be any other Premier League sides willing to take a punt on him, so if he really does want to stay in England, Chelsea are the most likely destination.

Verdict

We reckon Garnacho could do with some time away from the spotlight. A reunion with Ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen would be the wise thing to do for the youngster, he can concentrate on his football in a competitive league for a manager he knows.
