Four members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid were quick to throw their backing behind manager Xabi Alonso, in the aftermath of the club’s latest defeat.

Real Madrid were of course back in action on Wednesday, welcoming Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to Spain’s capital for a Champions League clash.

When all was said and done, Los Blancos were condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, after surrendering a first-half advantage provided by Rodrygo.

This, all told, means that the capital outfit have now managed victories in just two of their last eight across all competitions.

With such disappointing form comes inevitable pressure on the shoulders of manager Xabi Alonso, with some outlets having gone as far as to suggest that the ex-midfielder is on his last legs on the Bernabéu touchline.

Safe to say, then, that Alonso will no doubt have been deeply appreciative of the messages sent his way by his players post-match on Wednesday.
