Chelsea’s financial reality is that the Blues will have to sell players when they get a good offer to make money on them, no matter how important they are to the first team.
That’s the situation with Marc Cucurella right now, with reports in Spain starting to brew that Barcelona want to make him a marquee addition this summer.
Mundo Deportivo have today written that, while Cucurella is happy in London, his long term aim is to return to his home city of Barcelona, as the player himself admitted in some controversial international break comments.
The Blues paid €64m for Cucurella, but with so much of that now amortised, would apparently accept offers of closer to €50m. Barcelona aren’t likely to be able to pay that, however. This whole move could end up delayed a year as the defender comes closer to the end of his contract.
