FC Barcelona have made a great start to life under Hansi Flick with eight wins from 10 games across both La Liga and the Champions League. Their only losses so far have been a 2-1 defeat to AS Monaco when they were reduced to 10 men for the majority of the game and a 4-2 defeat to Osasuna in the league when Hansi Flick rotated the team heavily.

Despite the impressive performances from the team so far, Hansi Flick’s side has played their best football in the two-and-half halves of football that Dani Olmo has played for them. The summer signing adds so much value to the German coach’s team.

In three games for the club, Olmo has three goals. Unfortunately for him, he picked up a hamstring issue in the game against Girona just after the international break and has since been out of action as Flick is yet to identify the best way to replace him.

However, there is good news for Barcelona as it isn’t set to be long before Olmo is back on the pitch. As per MARCA, the €60m-rated attacking midfielder is set to be available for Hansi Flick on October 20th against Sevilla, the game immediately after the upcoming international break.

So far, Olmo has done specific work as he works his way back from injury and the international break provides him the perfect opportunity to integrate with the squad and build his way back to full fitness. Until now, the sensations have been positive.

With the 26-year-old Spaniard, Flick & co. have to be extra careful. Olmo has a history of injuries throughout his career and it is important that he is preserved for the important upcoming games like Bayern Munich and El Clasico.

In the absence of Olmo, Flick has used both Pablo Torre and Raphinha in the #10 roles. Torre has performed with middling returns. He is a good option but he is nowhere near the level of the Euro 2024 champion.

It’s highly likely that, barring any setbacks, Olmo will return from the bench against Sevilla before starting in the matches against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. However, it’s crucial for the club not to rush things and to take it day by day with the 26-year-old. We’ll have to wait and see how it unfolds.
