When Manchester United welcomed Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Monday evening, INEOS chiefs would’ve been keeping tabs on two players.
The Red Devils faithful are likely already aware that the club retain their summer interest in Antoine Semenyo, who scored an impressive first-half goal to initially get Bournemouth back into the game – before Casemiro restored United’s lead on the brink of half-time.
However, on the day of the contest, Samuel Luckhurst revealed that United were also ‘monitoring’ coveted midfielder Alex Scott.

Scott didn’t start from the off come 8pm, but had been brought into the action by 8.05pm, when he was called upon off the bench to replace the injured Tyler Adams.
As a result, United’s transfer hierarchy were able to get an in-depth look at how exactly the youngster would fare in such a high-pressure, end-to-end clash.
It’s safe to say Scott would’ve left a lasting impression, as he completed 100 per cent of his dribbles attempted, made a remarkable seven passes into the final third and dispatched one accurate long ball.
While doing his bit in defence, he made six recoveries, two clearances, one tackle, one block and one interception, earning himself a respectable rating of seven on Fotmob.
The 22-year-old signed for the Cherries in the summer of 2023 after establishing a name for himself at Bristol City.
He had been on the shortlist of a host of clubs, but opted for a switch to the Vitality Stadium, where he has since been able to continue his development with ample game time in the Premier League.
Scott has now racked up 59 top-flight appearances, 33 of which came as a starter.
Since 2025/2026 got underway, he has made Andoni Iraola’s XI 14 times in the 16 matches played, and accumulated 1,081 minutes of action.
