Mohammed Kudus has reported back for pre-season training with West Ham United while discussions continue over a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old Ghanaian is open to leaving the London Stadium this summer, with Champions League football his primary ambition.
Tottenham have already seen a £50 million offer rejected by West Ham United, but they are expected to return with an improved bid in the coming days. Kudus remains one of Spurs’ top targets, and informal talks are ongoing between the two clubs regarding what would be the first transfer from West Ham to Tottenham since Scott Parker’s switch in 2011.

The forward’s release clause could be a key detail in any negotiation. Valid until Thursday, it allows Premier League clubs to trigger his exit for £85 million, while European sides could sign him for £80 million. A move to Saudi Arabia would require a payment of £120 million. Despite that, Spurs are believed to be confident of securing his signature for significantly less than the buy-out clause figure.
Kudus scored 13 goals in 65 Premier League appearances for West Ham and continues to attract attention for his direct play and versatility in forward areas.
Earlier in the summer, Kudus was offered to Chelsea, but a move to Stamford Bridge now appears highly unlikely. The two clubs remain distant in their valuations of the player and Chelsea have since strengthened their attack with the signings of Joao Pedro from Brighton and Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
Although Chelsea had been linked, the player himself reportedly prefers a move to Tottenham. His desire to play in Europe’s top competition could align with Spurs’ ambitions under their new project.
Kudus joined West Ham United from Ajax in 2023 for £38 million. His current deal runs until 2028, placing the Hammers in a strong negotiating position. However, with Kudus open to the idea of a move and Spurs poised to make another approach, West Ham’s resolve could be tested before the release clause deadline expires.
Tottenham had also explored a potential move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but he is now prioritising a switch to Manchester United, further sharpening Spurs’ focus on Kudus.
With the market heating up, Kudus’ future remains one of the key storylines of the summer window. West Ham are preparing for the season ahead with the Ghana international still in the fold, but there is a growing sense that a move may yet materialise before the transfer window closes.
