Oxford United have officially announced the appointment of Aaron Ramsey as their new manager. The former Wales international arrives at the club after serving in interim coaching roles with Wales and Cardiff City during the 2024/25 season.

The announcement was made across the club’s official channels, with Ramsey expressing his enthusiasm for the project: “It’s an honour and privilege to be appointed head coach of Oxford United

“From my discussions with the Club, I can sense the ambition and desire for success, which gives me great excitement about this opportunity.

“This is a moment I have been preparing for over many years. I’ve played under some of the best managers in the game and experienced high-pressure environments throughout my career. I want to use what I’ve learnt to bring a culture of high standards, professionalism and work ethic to this talented group of players.

“My teams will play with a clear identity, be built on elite habits, with a commitment to improving every day. I want a squad that fights for the badge until the end, and one that makes our supporters proud."

Club chairman Dusan Bogdanovic explained that the selection process was thorough, as they were seeking a leader for the next phase of development. He noted that, from the very first meeting, Ramsey’s 'ambitions and desire to win' aligned with those of the club, and they are convinced he is 'the right person to take the club forward'.

In the statement, the club also confirmed that Ramsey’s coaching staff will be announced shortly and that the sporting department is already working with the new manager on immediate pre-season planning and squad adjustments.

In the 25/26 season, the U's finished 22nd in the Championship and will return to League One for the upcoming campaign.
